Underground Pipe for Outdoor Wood Boilers
Flexible Pre-insulated PEX Piping
INSULPEX® is an ideal hydronic distribution pipe. It consists of PEXa O2 Barrier pipe surrounded by foam insulation and a durable corrugated PE outer jacket.
The smooth interior wall of the carrier pipe provides superior flow and resists mineral build-up.
INSULPEX is available in one- and two-pipe configurations from sizes 1 to 6 in. nominal. The two-pipe configuration, offered in diameters 1 to 1 1/4 in. nominal, combines supply and return pipes to streamline the installation process.
Streamlines Installation
Accessories such as anchors, kickers and thrust blocks that are required on rigid systems are not required when installing the REHAU INSULPEX system. This is made possible by the self-compensating properties of the ribbed pipe and the dependability of the buryable fitting. Continuous coils and the availability of a two-pipe configuration further streamline the installation process.
Installation Instructions
- Bury 18 to 24 inches
- Check trench for sharp objects
- Use heavier casing for high traffic areas
- No additional insulation needed in trench
- Add additional sleeve when burying under concrete
- Inspect pipe and its contents before burying
Provides Long-term Performance
Crosslinked O2 Barrier pipe offers long-term strength. The high degree of crosslinking in REHAU crosslinked polyethylene (PEXa) pipe provides durability and flexibility with enhanced temperature and pressure capability.
Offers Flexibility
As an alternative to rigid piping systems, INSULPEX®, REHAU’s pre-insulated PEXa piping, consists of flexible PEXa pipe surrounded by a solid layer of CFC-free polyurethane foam insulation. The pipe’s flexibility allows it to bend around obstacles, or to be directionally bored, offering ease of installation while reducing expensive labor costs.
Minimizes Energy Loss
INSULPEX pipe is specially designed for the efficient transfer of heated or chilled water through buried pipelines, offering a continuous piping system that minimizes temperature change. This equates to increased efficiency in the mechanical room and cost savings to the owner.
